sauloV de hn suneudokwn th anairesei autou egeneto de en ekeinh th hmera diwgmoV megaV epi thn ekklhsian thn en ierosolumoiV panteV te diesparhsan kata taV cwraV thV ioudaiaV kai samareiaV plhn twn apostolwn

And Saul was consenting unto his death. And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judaea and Samaria, except the apostles.

sunekomisan de ton stefanon andreV eulabeiV kai epoihsanto kopeton megan ep autw

And devout men carried Stephen to his burial, and made great lamentation over him.

sauloV de elumaineto thn ekklhsian kata touV oikouV eisporeuomenoV surwn te andraV kai gunaikaV paredidou eiV fulakhn

As for Saul, he made havock of the church, entering into every house, and haling men and women committed them to prison.

oi men oun diasparenteV dihlqon euaggelizomenoi ton logon

Therefore they that were scattered abroad went every where preaching the word.

filippoV de katelqwn eiV polin thV samareiaV ekhrussen autoiV ton criston

Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them.

proseicon te oi ocloi toiV legomenoiV upo tou filippou omoqumadon en tw akouein autouV kai blepein ta shmeia a epoiei

And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake , hearing and seeing the miracles which he did

pollwn gar twn econtwn pneumata akaqarta bownta megalh fwnh exhrceto polloi de paralelumenoi kai cwloi eqerapeuqhsan

For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed with them: and many taken with palsies and that were lame, were healed

kai egeneto cara megalh en th polei ekeinh

And there was great joy in that city.

anhr de tiV onomati simwn prouphrcen en th polei mageuwn kai existwn to eqnoV thV samareiaV legwn einai tina eauton megan

But there was a certain man, called Simon, which beforetime in the same city used sorcery and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one:

w proseicon panteV apo mikrou ewV megalou legonteV outoV estin h dunamiV tou qeou h megalh

To whom they all gave heed from the least to the greatest, saying This man is the great power of God.

proseicon de autw dia to ikanw cronw taiV mageiaiV exestakenai autouV

And to him they had regard because that of long time he had bewitched them with sorceries.

ote de episteusan tw filippw euaggelizomenw ta peri thV basileiaV tou qeou kai tou onomatoV tou ihsou cristou ebaptizonto andreV te kai gunaikeV

But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized both men and women.

o de simwn kai autoV episteusen kai baptisqeiV hn proskarterwn tw filippw qewrwn te shmeia kai dunameiV megalaV ginomenaV existato

Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized he continued with Philip, and wondered beholding the miracles and signs which were done

akousanteV de oi en ierosolumoiV apostoloi oti dedektai h samareia ton logon tou qeou apesteilan proV autouV ton petron kai iwannhn

Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John:

oitineV katabanteV proshuxanto peri autwn opwV labwsin pneuma agion

Who, when they were come down prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:

oupw gar hn ep oudeni autwn epipeptwkoV monon de bebaptismenoi uphrcon eiV to onoma tou kuriou ihsou

as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)

tote epetiqoun taV ceiraV ep autouV kai elambanon pneuma agion

Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.

qeasamenoV de o simwn oti dia thV epiqesewV twn ceirwn twn apostolwn didotai to pneuma to agion proshnegken autoiV crhmata

And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Ghost was given he offered them money,

legwn dote kamoi thn exousian tauthn ina w an epiqw taV ceiraV lambanh pneuma agion

Saying Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost.

petroV de eipen proV auton to argurion sou sun soi eih eiV apwleian oti thn dwrean tou qeou enomisaV dia crhmatwn ktasqai

But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money.

ouk estin soi meriV oude klhroV en tw logw toutw h gar kardia sou ouk estin euqeia enwpion tou qeou

Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God.

metanohson oun apo thV kakiaV sou tauthV kai dehqhti tou qeou ei ara afeqhsetai soi h epinoia thV kardiaV sou

Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee.

eiV gar colhn pikriaV kai sundesmon adikiaV orw se onta

For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity.

apokriqeiV de o simwn eipen dehqhte umeiV uper emou proV ton kurion opwV mhden epelqh ep eme wn eirhkate

Then answered Simon, and said Pray ye to the Lord for me, that none of these things which ye have spoken come upon me.

oi men oun diamarturamenoi kai lalhsanteV ton logon tou kuriou upestreyan eiV ierousalhm pollaV te kwmaV twn samareitwn euhggelisanto

And they, when they had testified and preached the word of the Lord, returned to Jerusalem, and preached the gospel in many villages of the Samaritans.

aggeloV de kuriou elalhsen proV filippon legwn anasthqi kai poreuou kata meshmbrian epi thn odon thn katabainousan apo ierousalhm eiV gazan auth estin erhmoV

And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying Arise and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert.

kai anastaV eporeuqh kai idou anhr aiqioy eunoucoV dunasthV kandakhV thV basilisshV aiqiopwn oV hn epi pashV thV gazhV authV oV elhluqei proskunhswn eiV ierousalhm

And he arose and went and, behold a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship

hn te upostrefwn kai kaqhmenoV epi tou armatoV autou kai aneginwsken ton profhthn hsaian

Was returning and sitting in his chariot read Esaias the prophet.

eipen de to pneuma tw filippw proselqe kai kollhqhti tw armati toutw

Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near and join thyself to this chariot.

prosdramwn de o filippoV hkousen autou anaginwskontoV ton profhthn hsaian kai eipen ara ge ginwskeiV a anaginwskeiV

And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said Understandest thou what thou readest

o de eipen pwV gar an dunaimhn ean mh tiV odhghsh me parekalesen te ton filippon anabanta kaqisai sun autw

And he said How can I except some man should guide me ? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.

h de perioch thV grafhV hn aneginwsken hn auth wV probaton epi sfaghn hcqh kai wV amnoV enantion tou keirontoV auton afwnoV outwV ouk anoigei to stoma autou

The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer so opened he not his mouth:

en th tapeinwsei autou h krisiV autou hrqh thn de genean autou tiV dihghsetai oti airetai apo thV ghV h zwh autou

In his humiliation his judgment was taken away and who shall declare his generation ? for his life is taken from the earth.

apokriqeiV de o eunoucoV tw filippw eipen deomai sou peri tinoV o profhthV legei touto peri eautou h peri eterou tinoV

And the eunuch answered Philip, and said I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this ? of himself, or of some other man ?

anoixaV de o filippoV to stoma autou kai arxamenoV apo thV grafhV tauthV euhggelisato autw ton ihsoun

Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.

wV de eporeuonto kata thn odon hlqon epi ti udwr kai fhsin o eunoucoV idou udwr ti kwluei me baptisqhnai

And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said See here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized

eipen de o filippoV ei pisteueiV ex olhV thV kardiaV exestin apokriqeiV de eipen pisteuw ton uion tou qeou einai ton ihsoun criston

And Philip said If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest And he answered and said I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

kai ekeleusen sthnai to arma kai katebhsan amfoteroi eiV to udwr o te filippoV kai o eunoucoV kai ebaptisen auton

And he commanded the chariot to stand still and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.

ote de anebhsan ek tou udatoV pneuma kuriou hrpasen ton filippon kai ouk eiden auton ouketi o eunoucoV eporeueto gar thn odon autou cairwn

And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip , that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing

filippoV de eureqh eiV azwton kai diercomenoV euhggelizeto taV poleiV pasaV ewV tou elqein auton eiV kaisareian

But Philip was found at Azotus: and passing through he preached in all the cities, till he came to Caesarea.
