After these things Jesus went over the sea of Galilee, which is the sea of Tiberias. |

| kai hkolouqei autw ocloV poluV oti ewrwn autou ta shmeia a epoiei epi twn asqenountwn
And a great multitude followed him, because they saw his miracles which he did on them that were diseased |
|
| anhlqen de eiV to oroV o ihsouV kai ekei ekaqhto meta twn maqhtwn autou
And Jesus went up into a mountain, and there he sat with his disciples. |
|
| hn de egguV to pasca h eorth twn ioudaiwn
And the passover, a feast of the Jews, was nigh. |
|
| eparaV oun o ihsouV touV ofqalmouV kai qeasamenoV oti poluV ocloV ercetai proV auton legei proV ton filippon poqen agorasomen artouV ina fagwsin outoi
When Jesus then lifted up his eyes, and saw a great company come unto him, he saith unto Philip, Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat |

And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do |

| apekriqh autw filippoV diakosiwn dhnariwn artoi ouk arkousin autoiV ina ekastoV autwn bracu ti labh
Philip answered him, Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may take a little. |
|
| legei autw eiV ek twn maqhtwn autou andreaV o adelfoV simwnoV petrou
One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, saith unto him, |
|
| estin paidarion en wde o ecei pente artouV kriqinouV kai duo oyaria alla tauta ti estin eiV tosoutouV
There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many ? |
|
| eipen de o ihsouV poihsate touV anqrwpouV anapesein hn de cortoV poluV en tw topw anepeson oun oi andreV ton ariqmon wsei pentakiscilioi
And Jesus said Make the men sit down Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down in number about five thousand. |
|
| elaben de touV artouV o ihsouV kai eucaristhsaV diedwken toiV maqhtaiV oi de maqhtai toiV anakeimenoiV omoiwV kai ek twn oyariwn oson hqelon
And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down and likewise of the fishes as much as they would |

| wV de eneplhsqhsan legei toiV maqhtaiV autou sunagagete ta perisseusanta klasmata ina mh ti apolhtai
When they were filled he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain that nothing be lost |
|
| sunhgagon oun kai egemisan dwdeka kofinouV klasmatwn ek twn pente artwn twn kriqinwn a eperisseusen toiV bebrwkosin
Therefore they gathered them together and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which remained over and above unto them that had eaten |
|
| oi oun anqrwpoi idonteV o epoihsen shmeion o ihsouV elegon oti outoV estin alhqwV o profhthV o ercomenoV eiV ton kosmon
Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did said This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world. |
|
| ihsouV oun gnouV oti mellousin ercesqai kai arpazein auton ina poihswsin auton basilea anecwrhsen palin eiV to oroV autoV monoV
When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force to make him a king, he departed again into a mountain himself alone. |
|
| wV de oyia egeneto katebhsan oi maqhtai autou epi thn qalassan
And when even was now come his disciples went down unto the sea, |
|
| kai embanteV eiV to ploion hrconto peran thV qalasshV eiV kapernaoum kai skotia hdh egegonei kai ouk elhluqei proV autouV o ihsouV
And entered into a ship, and went over the sea toward Capernaum. And it was now dark, and Jesus was not come to them. |
|
| h te qalassa anemou megalou pneontoV dihgeireto
And the sea arose by reason of a great wind that blew |
|
| elhlakoteV oun wV stadiouV eikosipente h triakonta qewrousin ton ihsoun peripatounta epi thV qalasshV kai egguV tou ploiou ginomenon kai efobhqhsan
So when they had rowed about five and twenty or thirty furlongs, they see Jesus walking on the sea, and drawing nigh unto the ship: and they were afraid |

| o de legei autoiV egw eimi mh fobeisqe
But he saith unto them, It is I; be not afraid |
|
| hqelon oun labein auton eiV to ploion kai euqewV to ploion egeneto epi thV ghV eiV hn uphgon
Then they willingly received him into the ship: and immediately the ship was at the land whither they went |
|
| th epaurion o ocloV o esthkwV peran thV qalasshV idwn oti ploiarion allo ouk hn ekei ei mh en ekeino eiV o enebhsan oi maqhtai autou kai oti ou suneishlqen toiV maqhtaiV autou o ihsouV eiV to ploiarion alla monoi oi maqhtai autou aphlqon
The day following, when the people which stood on the other side of the sea saw that there was none other boat there, save that one whereinto his disciples were entered and that Jesus went not with his disciples into the boat, but that his disciples were gone away alone; |

| alla de hlqen ploiaria ek tiberiadoV egguV tou topou opou efagon ton arton eucaristhsantoV tou kuriou
there came other boats from Tiberias nigh unto the place where they did eat bread, after that the Lord had given thanks |
|
| ote oun eiden o ocloV oti ihsouV ouk estin ekei oude oi maqhtai autou enebhsan kai autoi eiV ta ploia kai hlqon eiV kapernaoum zhtounteV ton ihsoun
When the people therefore saw that Jesus was not there, neither his disciples, they also took shipping, and came to Capernaum, seeking for Jesus. |

| kai euronteV auton peran thV qalasshV eipon autw rabbi pote wde gegonaV
And when they had found him on the other side of the sea, they said unto him, Rabbi, when camest thou hither ? |
|
| apekriqh autoiV o ihsouV kai eipen amhn amhn legw umin zhteite me ouc oti eidete shmeia all oti efagete ek twn artwn kai ecortasqhte
Jesus answered them and said Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled |
|
| ergazesqe mh thn brwsin thn apollumenhn alla thn brwsin thn menousan eiV zwhn aiwnion hn o uioV tou anqrwpou umin dwsei touton gar o pathr esfragisen o qeoV
Labour not for the meat which perisheth but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed |

| eipon oun proV auton ti poioumen ina ergazwmeqa ta erga tou qeou
Then said they unto him, What shall we do that we might work the works of God ? |
|
| apekriqh o ihsouV kai eipen autoiV touto estin to ergon tou qeou ina pisteushte eiV on apesteilen ekeinoV
Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent |
|
| eipon oun autw ti oun poieiV su shmeion ina idwmen kai pisteuswmen soi ti ergazh
They said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, that we may see and believe thee ? what dost thou work |
|
| oi patereV hmwn to manna efagon en th erhmw kaqwV estin gegrammenon arton ek tou ouranou edwken autoiV fagein
Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written He gave them bread from heaven to eat |
|
| eipen oun autoiV o ihsouV amhn amhn legw umin ou mwshV dedwken umin ton arton ek tou ouranou all o pathr mou didwsin umin ton arton ek tou ouranou ton alhqinon
Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven. |
|
| o gar artoV tou qeou estin o katabainwn ek tou ouranou kai zwhn didouV tw kosmw
For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world. |
|
| eipon oun proV auton kurie pantote doV hmin ton arton touton
Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread. |
|
| eipen de autoiV o ihsouV egw eimi o artoV thV zwhV o ercomenoV proV me ou mh peinash kai o pisteuwn eiV eme ou mh diyhsh pwpote
And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger and he that believeth on me shall never thirst |
|
| all eipon umin oti kai ewrakate me kai ou pisteuete
But I said unto you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not. |
|
| pan o didwsin moi o pathr proV eme hxei kai ton ercomenon proV me ou mh ekbalw exw
All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. |
|
| oti katabebhka ek tou ouranou ouc ina poiw to qelhma to emon alla to qelhma tou pemyantoV me
For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me. |
|
| touto de estin to qelhma tou pemyantoV me patroV ina pan o dedwken moi mh apolesw ex autou alla anasthsw auto en th escath hmera
And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing , but should raise it up again at the last day. |
|
| touto de estin to qelhma tou pemyantoV me ina paV o qewrwn ton uion kai pisteuwn eiV auton ech zwhn aiwnion kai anasthsw auton egw th escath hmera
And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day. |

| egogguzon oun oi ioudaioi peri autou oti eipen egw eimi o artoV o katabaV ek tou ouranou
The Jews then murmured at him, because he said I am the bread which came down from heaven. |
|
| kai elegon ouc outoV estin ihsouV o uioV iwshf ou hmeiV oidamen ton patera kai thn mhtera pwV oun legei outoV oti ek tou ouranou katabebhka
And they said Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know how is it then that he saith I came down from heaven ? |
|
| apekriqh oun o ihsouV kai eipen autoiV mh gogguzete met allhlwn
Jesus therefore answered and said unto them, Murmur not among yourselves. |
|
| oudeiV dunatai elqein proV me ean mh o pathr o pemyaV me elkush auton kai egw anasthsw auton th escath hmera
No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. |
|
| estin gegrammenon en toiV profhtaiV kai esontai panteV didaktoi tou qeou paV oun o akousaV para tou patroV kai maqwn ercetai proV me
It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me. |
|
| ouc oti ton patera tiV ewraken ei mh o wn para tou qeou outoV ewraken ton patera
Not that any man hath seen the Father, save he which is of God, he hath seen the Father. |
|
| amhn amhn legw umin o pisteuwn eiV eme ecei zwhn aiwnion
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life. |
|
| egw eimi o artoV thV zwhV
I am that bread of life. |
|
| oi patereV umwn efagon to manna en th erhmw kai apeqanon
Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead |
|
| outoV estin o artoV o ek tou ouranou katabainwn ina tiV ex autou fagh kai mh apoqanh
This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof , and not die |
|
| egw eimi o artoV o zwn o ek tou ouranou katabaV ean tiV fagh ek toutou tou artou zhsetai eiV ton aiwna kai o artoV de on egw dwsw h sarx mou estin hn egw dwsw uper thV tou kosmou zwhV
I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world. |
|
| emaconto oun proV allhlouV oi ioudaioi legonteV pwV dunatai outoV hmin dounai thn sarka fagein
The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying How can this man give us his flesh to eat |
|
| eipen oun autoiV o ihsouV amhn amhn legw umin ean mh faghte thn sarka tou uiou tou anqrwpou kai pihte autou to aima ouk ecete zwhn en eautoiV
Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. |
|
| o trwgwn mou thn sarka kai pinwn mou to aima ecei zwhn aiwnion kai egw anasthsw auton th escath hmera
Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. |
|
| h gar sarx mou alhqwV estin brwsiV kai to aima mou alhqwV estin posiV
For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. |
|
| o trwgwn mou thn sarka kai pinwn mou to aima en emoi menei kagw en autw
He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him. |
|
| kaqwV apesteilen me o zwn pathr kagw zw dia ton patera kai o trwgwn me kakeinoV zhsetai di eme
As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me. |
|
| outoV estin o artoV o ek tou ouranou katabaV ou kaqwV efagon oi patereV umwn to manna kai apeqanon o trwgwn touton ton arton zhsetai eiV ton aiwna
This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever. |
|
| tauta eipen en sunagwgh didaskwn en kapernaoum
These things said he in the synagogue, as he taught in Capernaum. |
|
| polloi oun akousanteV ek twn maqhtwn autou eipon sklhroV estin outoV o logoV tiV dunatai autou akouein
Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said This is an hard saying; who can hear it ? |
|
| eidwV de o ihsouV en eautw oti gogguzousin peri toutou oi maqhtai autou eipen autoiV touto umaV skandalizei
When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, Doth this offend you ? |
|
| ean oun qewrhte ton uion tou anqrwpou anabainonta opou hn to proteron
What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before ? |
|
| to pneuma estin to zwopoioun h sarx ouk wfelei ouden ta rhmata a egw lalw umin pneuma estin kai zwh estin
It is the spirit that quickeneth the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. |
|
| all eisin ex umwn tineV oi ou pisteuousin hdei gar ex archV o ihsouV tineV eisin oi mh pisteuonteV kai tiV estin o paradwswn auton
But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him. |
|
| kai elegen dia touto eirhka umin oti oudeiV dunatai elqein proV me ean mh h dedomenon autw ek tou patroV mou
And he said Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father. |
|
| ek toutou polloi aphlqon twn maqhtwn autou eiV ta opisw kai ouketi met autou periepatoun
From that time many of his disciples went back , and walked no more with him. |
|
| eipen oun o ihsouV toiV dwdeka mh kai umeiV qelete upagein
Then said Jesus unto the twelve , Will ye also go away |
|
| apekriqh oun autw simwn petroV kurie proV tina apeleusomeqa rhmata zwhV aiwniou eceiV
Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go thou hast the words of eternal life. |
|
| kai hmeiV pepisteukamen kai egnwkamen oti su ei o cristoV o uioV tou qeou tou zwntoV
And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God. |
|
| apekriqh autoiV o ihsouV ouk egw umaV touV dwdeka exelexamhn kai ex umwn eiV diaboloV estin
Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil ? |
|
| elegen de ton ioudan simwnoV iskariwthn outoV gar hmellen auton paradidonai eiV wn ek twn dwdeka
He spake of Judas Iscariot the son of Simon: for he it was that should betray him, being one of the twelve. |
