Chapter 2

kai th hmera th trith gamoV egeneto en kana thV galilaiaV kai hn h mhthr tou ihsou ekei

And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there:

eklhqh de kai o ihsouV kai oi maqhtai autou eiV ton gamon

And both Jesus was called and his disciples, to the marriage.

kai usterhsantoV oinou legei h mhthr tou ihsou proV auton oinon ouk ecousin

And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine.

legei auth o ihsouV ti emoi kai soi gunai oupw hkei h wra mou

Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee ? mine hour is not yet come

legei h mhthr autou toiV diakonoiV o ti an legh umin poihsate

His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.

hsan de ekei udriai liqinai ex keimenai kata ton kaqarismon twn ioudaiwn cwrousai ana metrhtaV duo h treiV

And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece.

legei autoiV o ihsouV gemisate taV udriaV udatoV kai egemisan autaV ewV anw

Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.

kai legei autoiV antlhsate nun kai ferete tw arcitriklinw kai hnegkan

And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it.

wV de egeusato o arcitriklinoV to udwr oinon gegenhmenon kai ouk hdei poqen estin oi de diakonoi hdeisan oi hntlhkoteV to udwr fwnei ton numfion o arcitriklinoV

When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was the servants which drew the water knew the governor of the feast called the bridegroom,

kai legei autw paV anqrwpoV prwton ton kalon oinon tiqhsin kai otan mequsqwsin tote ton elassw su tethrhkaV ton kalon oinon ewV arti

And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now.

tauthn epoihsen thn archn twn shmeiwn o ihsouV en kana thV galilaiaV kai efanerwsen thn doxan autou kai episteusan eiV auton oi maqhtai autou

This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.

meta touto katebh eiV kapernaoum autoV kai h mhthr autou kai oi adelfoi autou kai oi maqhtai autou kai ekei emeinan ou pollaV hmeraV

After this he went down to Capernaum, he, and his mother, and his brethren, and his disciples: and they continued there not many days.

kai egguV hn to pasca twn ioudaiwn kai anebh eiV ierosoluma o ihsouV

And the Jews' passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem,

kai euren en tw ierw touV pwlountaV boaV kai probata kai peristeraV kai touV kermatistaV kaqhmenouV

And found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting

kai poihsaV fragellion ek scoiniwn pantaV exebalen ek tou ierou ta te probata kai touV boaV kai twn kollubistwn execeen to kerma kai taV trapezaV anestreyen

And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers' money, and overthrew the tables;

kai toiV taV peristeraV pwlousin eipen arate tauta enteuqen mh poieite ton oikon tou patroV mou oikon emporiou

And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father's house an house of merchandise.

emnhsqhsan de oi maqhtai autou oti gegrammenon estin o zhloV tou oikou sou katefagen me

And his disciples remembered that it was written The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up

apekriqhsan oun oi ioudaioi kai eipon autw ti shmeion deiknueiV hmin oti tauta poieiV

Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign shewest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things ?

apekriqh o ihsouV kai eipen autoiV lusate ton naon touton kai en trisin hmeraiV egerw auton

Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up

eipon oun oi ioudaioi tessarakonta kai ex etesin wkodomhqh o naoV outoV kai su en trisin hmeraiV egereiV auton

Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building and wilt thou rear it up in three days ?

ekeinoV de elegen peri tou naou tou swmatoV autou

But he spake of the temple of his body.

ote oun hgerqh ek nekrwn emnhsqhsan oi maqhtai autou oti touto elegen autoiV kai episteusan th grafh kai tw logw w eipen o ihsouV

When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this unto them; and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said

wV de hn en ierosolumoiV en tw pasca en th eorth polloi episteusan eiV to onoma autou qewrounteV autou ta shmeia a epoiei

Now when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did

autoV de o ihsouV ouk episteuen eauton autoiV dia to auton ginwskein pantaV

But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men,

kai oti ou creian eicen ina tiV marturhsh peri tou anqrwpou autoV gar eginwsken ti hn en tw anqrwpw

And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man.
