Now the feast of unleavened bread drew nigh which is called the Passover.

kai ezhtoun oi arciereiV kai oi grammateiV to pwV anelwsin auton efobounto gar ton laon

And the chief priests and scribes sought how they might kill him; for they feared the people.

eishlqen de o satanaV eiV ioudan ton epikaloumenon iskariwthn onta ek tou ariqmou twn dwdeka

Then entered Satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve.

kai apelqwn sunelalhsen toiV arciereusin kai toiV strathgoiV to pwV auton paradw autoiV

And he went his way and communed with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray him unto them.

kai ecarhsan kai suneqento autw argurion dounai

And they were glad and covenanted to give him money.

kai exwmologhsen kai ezhtei eukairian tou paradounai auton autoiV ater oclou

And he promised and sought opportunity to betray him unto them in the absence of the multitude.

Then came the day of unleavened bread, when the passover must be killed

kai apesteilen petron kai iwannhn eipwn poreuqenteV etoimasate hmin to pasca ina fagwmen

And he sent Peter and John, saying Go and prepare us the passover, that we may eat

oi de eipon autw pou qeleiV etoimaswmen

And they said unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare

o de eipen autoiV idou eiselqontwn umwn eiV thn polin sunanthsei umin anqrwpoV keramion udatoV bastazwn akolouqhsate autw eiV thn oikian ou eisporeuetai

And he said unto them, Behold when ye are entered into the city, there shall a man meet you, bearing a pitcher of water; follow him into the house where he entereth in

kai ereite tw oikodespoth thV oikiaV legei soi o didaskaloV pou estin to kataluma opou to pasca meta twn maqhtwn mou fagw

And ye shall say unto the goodman of the house, The Master saith unto thee, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples ?

kakeinoV umin deixei anwgeon mega estrwmenon ekei etoimasate

And he shall shew you a large upper room furnished there make ready

And they went and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the passover.

kai ote egeneto h wra anepesen kai oi dwdeka apostoloi sun autw

And when the hour was come he sat down and the twelve apostles with him.

kai eipen proV autouV epiqumia epequmhsa touto to pasca fagein meq umwn pro tou me paqein

And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer

legw gar umin oti ouketi ou mh fagw ex autou ewV otou plhrwqh en th basileia tou qeou

For I say unto you , I will not any more eat thereof , until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God.

kai dexamenoV pothrion eucaristhsaV eipen labete touto kai diamerisate eautoiV

And he took the cup, and gave thanks and said Take this, and divide it among yourselves:

legw gar umin oti ou mh piw apo tou gennhmatoV thV ampelou ewV otou h basileia tou qeou elqh

For I say unto you , I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come

kai labwn arton eucaristhsaV eklasen kai edwken autoiV legwn touto estin to swma mou to uper umwn didomenon touto poieite eiV thn emhn anamnhsin

And he took bread, and gave thanks and brake it, and gave unto them, saying This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.

wsautwV kai to pothrion meta to deipnhsai legwn touto to pothrion h kainh diaqhkh en tw aimati mou to uper umwn ekcunomenon

Likewise also the cup after supper saying This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.

plhn idou h ceir tou paradidontoV me met emou epi thV trapezhV

But, behold the hand of him that betrayeth me is with me on the table.

kai o men uioV tou anqrwpou poreuetai kata to wrismenon plhn ouai tw anqrwpw ekeinw di ou paradidotai

And truly the Son of man goeth as it was determined but woe unto that man by whom he is betrayed

kai autoi hrxanto suzhtein proV eautouV to tiV ara eih ex autwn o touto mellwn prassein

And they began to enquire among themselves, which of them it was that should do this thing.

egeneto de kai filoneikia en autoiV to tiV autwn dokei einai meizwn

And there was also a strife among them, which of them should be accounted the greatest.

o de eipen autoiV oi basileiV twn eqnwn kurieuousin autwn kai oi exousiazonteV autwn euergetai kalountai

And he said unto them, The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and they that exercise authority upon them are called benefactors.

umeiV de ouc outwV all o meizwn en umin genesqw wV o newteroV kai o hgoumenoV wV o diakonwn

But ye shall not be so: but he that is greatest among you, let him be as the younger; and he that is chief as he that doth serve

tiV gar meizwn o anakeimenoV h o diakonwn ouci o anakeimenoV egw de eimi en mesw umwn wV o diakonwn

For whether is greater, he that sitteth at meat or he that serveth is not he that sitteth at meat but I am among you as he that serveth

umeiV de este oi diamemenhkoteV met emou en toiV peirasmoiV mou

Ye are they which have continued with me in my temptations.

kagw diatiqemai umin kaqwV dieqeto moi o pathr mou basileian

And I appoint unto you a kingdom, as my Father hath appointed unto me;

ina esqihte kai pinhte epi thV trapezhV mou en th basileia mou kai kaqishsqe epi qronwn krinonteV taV dwdeka fulaV tou israhl

That ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

eipen de o kurioV simwn simwn idou o satanaV exhthsato umaV tou siniasai wV ton siton

And the Lord said Simon, Simon, behold Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat:

egw de edehqhn peri sou ina mh ekleiph h pistiV sou kai su pote epistreyaV sthrixon touV adelfouV sou

But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted strengthen thy brethren.

o de eipen autw kurie meta sou etoimoV eimi kai eiV fulakhn kai eiV qanaton poreuesqai

And he said unto him, Lord, I am ready to go with thee, both into prison, and to death.

o de eipen legw soi petre ou mh fwnhsei shmeron alektwr prin h triV aparnhsh mh eidenai me

And he said I tell thee, Peter, the cock shall not crow this day, before that thou shalt thrice deny that thou knowest me.

kai eipen autoiV ote apesteila umaV ater balantiou kai phraV kai upodhmatwn mh tinoV usterhsate oi de eipon oudenoV

And he said unto them, When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes , lacked ye any thing ? And they said Nothing.

eipen oun autoiV alla nun o ecwn balantion aratw omoiwV kai phran kai o mh ecwn pwlhsatw to imation autou kai agorasatw macairan

Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.

legw gar umin oti eti touto to gegrammenon dei telesqhnai en emoi to kai meta anomwn elogisqh kai gar ta peri emou teloV ecei

For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned among the transgressors: for the things concerning me have an end.

oi de eipon kurie idou macairai wde duo o de eipen autoiV ikanon estin

And they said Lord, behold here are two swords. And he said unto them, It is enough.

kai exelqwn eporeuqh kata to eqoV eiV to oroV twn elaiwn hkolouqhsan de autw kai oi maqhtai autou

And he came out and went as he was wont, to the mount of Olives; and his disciples also followed him.

genomenoV de epi tou topou eipen autoiV proseucesqe mh eiselqein eiV peirasmon

And when he was at the place, he said unto them, Pray that ye enter not into temptation.

kai autoV apespasqh ap autwn wsei liqou bolhn kai qeiV ta gonata proshuceto

And he was withdrawn from them about a stone's cast, and kneeled down , and prayed

legwn pater ei boulei parenegkein to pothrion touto ap emou plhn mh to qelhma mou alla to son genesqw

Saying Father, if thou be willing remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done

wfqh de autw aggeloV ap ouranou eniscuwn auton

And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him.

kai genomenoV en agwnia ektenesteron proshuceto egeneto de o idrwV autou wsei qromboi aimatoV katabainonteV epi thn ghn

And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.

kai anastaV apo thV proseuchV elqwn proV touV maqhtaV euren autouV koimwmenouV apo thV luphV

And when he rose up from prayer, and was come to his disciples, he found them sleeping for sorrow,

kai eipen autoiV ti kaqeudete anastanteV proseucesqe ina mh eiselqhte eiV peirasmon

And said unto them, Why sleep ye rise and pray lest ye enter into temptation.

eti de autou lalountoV idou ocloV kai o legomenoV ioudaV eiV twn dwdeka prohrceto autwn kai hggisen tw ihsou filhsai auton

And while he yet spake behold a multitude, and he that was called Judas, one of the twelve, went before them, and drew near unto Jesus to kiss him.

o de ihsouV eipen autw iouda filhmati ton uion tou anqrwpou paradidwV

But Jesus said unto him, Judas, betrayest thou the Son of man with a kiss ?

idonteV de oi peri auton to esomenon eipon autw kurie ei pataxomen en macaira

When they which were about him saw what would follow they said unto him, Lord , shall we smite with the sword ?

kai epataxen eiV tiV ex autwn ton doulon tou arcierewV kai afeilen autou to ouV to dexion

And one of them smote the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear.

apokriqeiV de o ihsouV eipen eate ewV toutou kai ayamenoV tou wtiou autou iasato auton

And Jesus answered and said Suffer ye thus far. And he touched his ear, and healed him.

eipen de o ihsouV proV touV paragenomenouV ep auton arciereiV kai strathgouV tou ierou kai presbuterouV wV epi lhsthn exelhluqate meta macairwn kai xulwn

Then Jesus said unto the chief priests, and captains of the temple, and the elders, which were come to him, Be ye come out as against a thief, with swords and staves ?

kaq hmeran ontoV mou meq umwn en tw ierw ouk exeteinate taV ceiraV ep eme all auth umwn estin h wra kai h exousia tou skotouV

When I was daily with you in the temple, ye stretched forth no hands against me: but this is your hour, and the power of darkness.

sullabonteV de auton hgagon kai eishgagon auton eiV ton oikon tou arcierewV o de petroV hkolouqei makroqen

Then took they him, and led him, and brought him into the high priest's house. And Peter followed afar off.

ayantwn de pur en mesw thV aulhV kai sugkaqisantwn autwn ekaqhto o petroV en mesw autwn

And when they had kindled a fire in the midst of the hall, and were set down together Peter sat down among them.

idousa de auton paidiskh tiV kaqhmenon proV to fwV kai atenisasa autw eipen kai outoV sun autw hn

But a certain maid beheld him as he sat by the fire, and earnestly looked upon him, and said This man was also with him.

o de hrnhsato auton legwn gunai ouk oida auton

And he denied him, saying Woman, I know him not.

kai meta bracu eteroV idwn auton efh kai su ex autwn ei o de petroV eipen anqrwpe ouk eimi

And after a little while another saw him, and said Thou art also of them. And Peter said Man, I am not.

kai diastashV wsei wraV miaV alloV tiV diiscurizeto legwn ep alhqeiaV kai outoV met autou hn kai gar galilaioV estin

And about the space of one hour after another confidently affirmed saying Of a truth this fellow also was with him: for he is a Galilaean.

eipen de o petroV anqrwpe ouk oida o legeiV kai paracrhma eti lalountoV autou efwnhsen o alektwr

And Peter said Man, I know not what thou sayest And immediately, while he yet spake the cock crew

kai strafeiV o kurioV enebleyen tw petrw kai upemnhsqh o petroV tou logou tou kuriou wV eipen autw oti prin alektora fwnhsai aparnhsh me triV

And the Lord turned and looked upon Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how he had said unto him, Before the cock crow thou shalt deny me thrice.

kai exelqwn exw o petroV eklausen pikrwV

And Peter went out, and wept bitterly.

kai oi andreV oi suneconteV ton ihsoun enepaizon autw deronteV

And the men that held Jesus mocked him, and smote him.

kai perikaluyanteV auton etupton autou to proswpon kai ephrwtwn auton legonteV profhteuson tiV estin o paisaV se

And when they had blindfolded him, they struck him on the face, and asked him, saying Prophesy who is it that smote thee ?

kai etera polla blasfhmounteV elegon eiV auton

And many other things blasphemously spake they against him.

kai wV egeneto hmera sunhcqh to presbuterion tou laou arciereiV te kai grammateiV kai anhgagon auton eiV to sunedrion eautwn legonteV

And as soon as it was day, the elders of the people and the chief priests and the scribes came together and led him into their council, saying

ei su ei o cristoV eipe hmin eipen de autoiV ean umin eipw ou mh pisteushte

Art thou the Christ ? tell us. And he said unto them, If I tell you, ye will not believe

ean de kai erwthsw ou mh apokriqhte moi h apolushte

And if I also ask you, ye will not answer me, nor let me go

apo tou nun estai o uioV tou anqrwpou kaqhmenoV ek dexiwn thV dunamewV tou qeou

Hereafter shall the Son of man sit on the right hand of the power of God.

eipon de panteV su oun ei o uioV tou qeou o de proV autouV efh umeiV legete oti egw eimi

Then said they all, Art thou then the Son of God ? And he said unto them, Ye say that I am

oi de eipon ti eti creian ecomen marturiaV autoi gar hkousamen apo tou stomatoV autou

And they said What need we any further witness ? for we ourselves have heard of his own mouth.
