Chapter 8

katabanti de autw apo tou orouV hkolouqhsan autw ocloi polloi

When he was come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him.

kai idou leproV elqwn prosekunei autw legwn kurie ean qelhV dunasai me kaqarisai

And, behold there came a leper and worshipped him, saying Lord, if thou wilt thou canst make me clean

kai ekteinaV thn ceira hyato autou o ihsouV legwn qelw kaqarisqhti kai euqewV ekaqarisqh autou h lepra

And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying I will be thou clean And immediately his leprosy was cleansed

kai legei autw o ihsouV ora mhdeni eiphV all upage seauton deixon tw ierei kai prosenegke to dwron o prosetaxen mwshV eiV marturion autoiV

And Jesus saith unto him, See thou tell no man; but go thy way shew thyself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded for a testimony unto them.

eiselqonti de tw ihsou eiV kapernaoum proshlqen autw ekatontarcoV parakalwn auton

And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him,

kai legwn kurie o paiV mou beblhtai en th oikia paralutikoV deinwV basanizomenoV

And saying Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented

kai legei autw o ihsouV egw elqwn qerapeusw auton

And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him.

kai apokriqeiV o ekatontarcoV efh kurie ouk eimi ikanoV ina mou upo thn steghn eiselqhV alla monon eipe logon kai iaqhsetai o paiV mou

The centurion answered and said Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed

kai gar egw anqrwpoV eimi upo exousian ecwn up emauton stratiwtaV kai legw toutw poreuqhti kai poreuetai kai allw ercou kai ercetai kai tw doulw mou poihson touto kai poiei

For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go and he goeth and to another, Come and he cometh and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.

akousaV de o ihsouV eqaumasen kai eipen toiV akolouqousin amhn legw umin oude en tw israhl tosauthn pistin euron

When Jesus heard it, he marvelled and said to them that followed Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.

legw de umin oti polloi apo anatolwn kai dusmwn hxousin kai anakliqhsontai meta abraam kai isaak kai iakwb en th basileia twn ouranwn

And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven.

oi de uioi thV basileiaV ekblhqhsontai eiV to skotoV to exwteron ekei estai o klauqmoV kai o brugmoV twn odontwn

But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

kai eipen o ihsouV tw ekatontarcw upage kai wV episteusaV genhqhtw soi kai iaqh o paiV autou en th wra ekeinh

And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way and as thou hast believed so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour.

kai elqwn o ihsouV eiV thn oikian petrou eiden thn penqeran autou beblhmenhn kai puressousan

And when Jesus was come into Peter's house, he saw his wife's mother laid and sick of a fever

kai hyato thV ceiroV authV kai afhken authn o puretoV kai hgerqh kai dihkonei autoiV

And he touched her hand, and the fever left her: and she arose and ministered unto them.

oyiaV de genomenhV proshnegkan autw daimonizomenouV pollouV kai exebalen ta pneumata logw kai pantaV touV kakwV econtaV eqerapeusen

When the even was come they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick:

opwV plhrwqh to rhqen dia hsaiou tou profhtou legontoV autoV taV asqeneiaV hmwn elaben kai taV nosouV ebastasen

That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.

idwn de o ihsouV pollouV oclouV peri auton ekeleusen apelqein eiV to peran

Now when Jesus saw great multitudes about him, he gave commandment to depart unto the other side.

kai proselqwn eiV grammateuV eipen autw didaskale akolouqhsw soi opou ean aperch

And a certain scribe came and said unto him, Master, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest

kai legei autw o ihsouV ai alwpekeV fwleouV ecousin kai ta peteina tou ouranou kataskhnwseiV o de uioV tou anqrwpou ouk ecei pou thn kefalhn klinh

And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.

eteroV de twn maqhtwn autou eipen autw kurie epitreyon moi prwton apelqein kai qayai ton patera mou

And another of his disciples said unto him, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.

o de ihsouV eipen autw akolouqei moi kai afeV touV nekrouV qayai touV eautwn nekrouV

But Jesus said unto him, Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead.

kai embanti autw eiV to ploion hkolouqhsan autw oi maqhtai autou

And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples followed him.

kai idou seismoV megaV egeneto en th qalassh wste to ploion kaluptesqai upo twn kumatwn autoV de ekaqeuden

And, behold there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep

kai proselqonteV oi maqhtai autou hgeiran auton legonteV kurie swson hmaV apollumeqa

And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying Lord, save us: we perish

kai legei autoiV ti deiloi este oligopistoi tote egerqeiV epetimhsen toiV anemoiV kai th qalassh kai egeneto galhnh megalh

And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith ? Then he arose and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.

oi de anqrwpoi eqaumasan legonteV potapoV estin outoV oti kai oi anemoi kai h qalassa upakouousin autw

But the men marvelled saying What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!

kai elqonti autw eiV to peran eiV thn cwran twn gergeshnwn uphnthsan autw duo daimonizomenoi ek twn mnhmeiwn exercomenoi calepoi lian wste mh iscuein tina parelqein dia thV odou ekeinhV

And when he was come to the other side into the country of the Gergesenes, there met him two possessed with devils coming out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man might pass by that way.

kai idou ekraxan legonteV ti hmin kai soi ihsou uie tou qeou hlqeV wde pro kairou basanisai hmaV

And, behold they cried out saying What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God ? art thou come hither to torment us before the time ?

hn de makran ap autwn agelh coirwn pollwn boskomenh

And there was a good way off from them an herd of many swine feeding

oi de daimoneV parekaloun auton legonteV ei ekballeiV hmaV epitreyon hmin apelqein eiV thn agelhn twn coirwn

So the devils besought him, saying If thou cast us out suffer us to go away into the herd of swine.

kai eipen autoiV upagete oi de exelqonteV aphlqon eiV thn agelhn twn coirwn kai idou wrmhsen pasa h agelh twn coirwn kata tou krhmnou eiV thn qalassan kai apeqanon en toiV udasin

And he said unto them, Go And when they were come out they went into the herd of swine: and, behold the whole herd of swine ran violently down a steep place into the sea, and perished in the waters.

oi de boskonteV efugon kai apelqonteV eiV thn polin aphggeilan panta kai ta twn daimonizomenwn

And they that kept them fled and went their ways into the city, and told every thing, and what was befallen to the possessed of the devils

kai idou pasa h poliV exhlqen eiV sunanthsin tw ihsou kai idonteV auton parekalesan opwV metabh apo twn oriwn autwn

And, behold the whole city came out to meet Jesus: and when they saw him, they besought him that he would depart out of their coasts.
