Chapter 57

1

To the chief Musician,18 Altaschith, 7843 55 516 Michtam of David, when he fled2 from Saul in the cave.
Be merciful3 unto me, O God, be merciful3 unto me: for my soul trusteth1 in thee: yea, in the shadow of thy wings will I make my refuge,4 until [these] calamities be overpast.4

2

I will cry4 unto God most high; unto God that performeth6 [all things] for me.

3

He shall send4 from heaven, and save55 me [from] the reproach14 of him that would swallow me up.6 Selah. God shall send4 forth his mercy and his truth.

4

My soul [is] among lions: [and] I lie4 [even among] them that are set on fire,6 [even] the sons of men, whose teeth [are] spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword.

5

Be thou exalted,3 O God, above the heavens; [let] thy glory [be] above all the earth.

6

They have prepared52 a net for my steps; my soul is bowed down:1 they have digged1 a pit before me, into the midst whereof they are fallen1 [themselves]. Selah.

7

My heart is fixed,12 O God, my heart is fixed:12 I will sing4 and give praise.17

8

Awake up,3 my glory; awake,3 psaltery and harp: I [myself] will awake55 early.

9

I will praise55 thee, O Lord, among the people: I will sing17 unto thee among the nations.

10

For thy mercy [is] great unto the heavens, and thy truth unto the clouds.

11

Be thou exalted,3 O God, above the heavens: [let] thy glory [be] above all the earth.
