Jarmuth

 

Jarmuth - (high).

1. A town in the low country of Judah. (Joshua 16:35) Its king, Piram, was one of the five who conspired. to punish Gibeon for having made alliance with Israel, (Joshua 10:3,5) and who were routed at Beth-horon and put to death by Joshua at Makkedah. ver. 33. Its site is probably the modern Yarmuk .

2. A city of Issachar allotted with its suburbs to the Gershonite Levites. (Joshua 21:29)
