Notes on Chapter 15

1

2

The "tradition of the elders" referenced here is the "oral law" spuriously created by the Jewish Rabbis. The "tradition of the elders" many times set aside the "written law" or "Torah", which is the Law of God as written by Moses in the first 5 books of the Bible.
The "tradition of the elders" is called the "Talmud" and is the current "bible" that the Jews of today use. Jesus condemned the Talmud followers in great detail in Matthew 23 and other places. The Talmud as used by the modern Jewish Pharisees of today is a subversion of God's Law.

Verse 6 is just one of many examples of how the "traditions of the elders" or Jewish Talmud completely subverts God's Law.
